Sat. May 29, 10am-1pm. Intro to drills and impact drivers
This class gives people the opportunity to get to know two valuable and versatile power tools: the drill and impact driver. Nyree, your trainer with over 30 years in the construction industry will give you valuable information on the vast range of drills available, their features, how to use them and help you choose the drill best for you and the work you want to do. You will be introduced to a variety of drill bits and their purpose as well as an introduction into what screws to use for different jobs. You will get a hands on experience in drilling and screwing into pine, plywood and hardwood.
Workshop includes:

 Demonstration and instruction on a variety of drills and impact drivers, including posture and set-up + hands on experience.

 Safety features and recommended PPE.

 Instruction on what drill bits and screws to use.

 All PPE supplied.

Sat. June 12, 10am-1pm. Intro to cutting metal, concrete and stone
If you've wanted to know more about metal, concrete or stone cutting and not sure if it's your cup of tea, then this specialised class is for you. Experienced metal fabricator/ artisan, Nyree L Smith, you will show you how easy it all is when done safely and correctly.
Workshop includes:

 Demonstration and instruction on metal, stone and concrete cutting and grinding techniques' including posture and recommended PPE.

 Angle grinder safety features

 Instruction on available disks and accessories 

 Tricks of the trade and troubleshooting ideas

Sat. June 26, 9:30am-1.30pm. Welding for beginners

If you've wanted to know more about metalwork and not sure if it's something you want to do then this welding "taster" course may be right up your alley. Nyree, an accomplished metal artisan and trainer, wants to encourage people who are interested in trying welding for the first time for either sculptural or practical applications. She offers a safe and creatively stimulating learning environment at the Lismore Art Space.

Workshop includes:

Types of welders vs types of metals.

Electric welding, the pros and cons of tig, mig and arc welding, gas/ gasless, and inverter technology.

Demonstration and instruction on mig and arc welding techniques including posture and recommended PPE.

Tricks of the trade and troubleshooting ideas.

About Nyree

Well acclaimed metal artisan Nyree Louise Smith. Nyree has spent 30 of her 54 years working in the very versatile world of metalwork. Her skills include: welding, industrial design, metal fabrication and ancient techniques such as blacksmithing, and tin smithing. These skills have been refined through artist-in-residence postings in Spain and England, during a Churchill Trust fellowship in 2001, and also study grants from the Australian Council for the Arts, The George Alexander and Ian Potter Foundations.
